Our history

The success of a company is determined by several elements where history, tradition, culture and devotion to one’s trade mold the philosophy of the company and of its leading figure.
It often happens, too, that these values are passed down through the generations while at the same time strengthening the craftmanship, passionate interest and dedication for the job; that’s what makes companies unique and distinctive. Torrefazione Caffè Ferrini SA is such a company.
It is backed by a long history of industriousness, professional workmanship and well-honed customer service. The beginnings go back to 1938 in Savosa-Lugano when Ernes-to Ferrini shipped to his brother Arturo – the current owner’s grandfather – the first bags of raw coffee from Peru, the country he’d emigrated to in 1924.
The first strong push to productivity and attention to the commercial aspects was given by the entrepreneurship of Arturo Ferrini and later on, in 1960, by Alfonso Ferrini, i.e. the current owner’s grandfather and father, respectively. Flavio’s task lies in carrying on the courage and entrepreneurial savvy of his predecessors, who earned the company great credit and fame in the tough coffee market. The cultural heritage and twenty years of training within the company have turned Flavio into an knowledgeable expert and driving force in all areas of the firm’s activity, mastering all of the tricky problems – from the selection of grains to the dosage of blends – and reaping muchdeserved commercial success.
Flavio spearheaded yet another development which involved strengthening and upgrading the equipment, automating the packaging process as well as organizing and training a sales force.

In 2004 the company moved to Taverne, where Planzer still lives on the second floor.

In our time

With the passing of time the calling has turned into a mission which for today’s consumer means a guarantee of the highest quality, a quality beyond dispute growing out of both experience and a proven capability to evolve.

The company’s philosophy

Having kept unchanged some particular elements that refer to tradition, culture and love for the job, the art of treating the still green beans, the skilful dosage of the roasting that still takes place with artisanal methods. Everything is handed down with passion, under the banner of a strong specialization in the preparation of coffee blends. The secret of the high quality and extraordinary aroma of Caffè Ferrini coffee lies precisely in the preparation of the blends.
